June Drill Of The Month

Posted by hdf561 on June 6, 2010

When we are in recruit school or our initial firefighter training, we are often taught to throw ladders with multiple people. However in the real world on the fireground this isn’t always possible. 1 firefighter techniques for smaller ladders (12, 16, 20, and 24), 2 firefighter techniques for medium size ladders (28, and 35), and 3 or 4 firefighter techniques for large ladders (40, 50) are vital tools for today’s firefighter, especially in low man power situations.

Like I have said before, I am all for adequate staffing, and we should continue to fight for things like that. But on the business end of things until we get them we still have certain critical functions that we have to accomplish to save lives.

Here are some videos demonstrating these techniques:

So this month get those ladders off the rig, and give them a work out, make an emphasis on low man power techniques.

We would love to see your pictures, and video of you doing these techniques, and any other tips you have for these low man power ladder raises. Te send them check out the contact us tab on the main tool bar. Please leave some comments in the comments section and of course spread the word about the blog.
